Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan had an intimate meeting with the Ambassador of Malaysia


On July 13, 2011, at the office of the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA), Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan welcomed and had a working session with Ms. Lim Kim Eng, Malaysian Ambassador to Vietnam on the occasion of the Ambassador’s preparation for completing the working term in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan expressed the pleasure and welcomed the Ambassador to visit the Ministry of Labour – Invalids and Social Affairs, with a focus on the cooperation between the two countries in the recent years, especially during the  term of the Ambassador in Vietnam, particularly the field of labour, employment, social security … Besides, the Minister also expressed her belief in the future, Vietnam and Malaysia will continue to support each other and expand the cooperation between the two countries with the goal of mutual benefit …

On the part of herself, the Ambassador Lim Kim Eng said that during the working time in Vietnam, she was very impressed with the country and people of Vietnam, especially Hanoi capital. According to the Ambassador, there are now over 8,000 Vietnamese employees working in Malaysia. With abundant labour resource, Vietnam will support Malaysia in human resource as well as in many other areas and vice versa.

However, as reported, many Vietnamese labourers are illegal migrants in Malaysia. The Malaysian Government is implementing the appropriate measures to sanction those casesthoroughly to avoid repetition. Currently, we have made some measures to manage more closely companies receiving and managing foreign labourers in Malaysia, forcing them to fulfill their responsibilities.

To Vietnam, Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said that it is difficult to control these cases; and proposed the Malaysian Government have solutions or specific remedies for illegal migrant workers. Besides, the violation labourers  will not issued exit visas, consider it as a  form of punishment; they will deported back  to Vietnam …

At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador Lim Kim Eng thanked for warm hearted feelings of Vietnam and the Minister, also said that she will advise authorities to create favor conditions for foreigners who work in Malaysia.
